Using gravitational potential energy to produce electricity by the use of escalators

Escalators are widely used transport mechanics that are mostly installed in areas of huge human traffic. The idea is to use the "normally unused" gravitational potential energy of every people who uses the escalators.

to achieve functionality.

Detailed description (max. 500 words)
Escalators are mostly installed in big traffic areas (for example in big metro stations) and are almost in use for the whole time (24 h/day)
Everybody who drives downwards has a gravitational potential energy related to the downer ground which can be converged into electricity by the use of the motors (which are then work as a generator).
Normally the "passengers" are slowed down by breaks which mean that the whole gravitational potential energy is converged into friction.
Applying electrical control systems it will be possible to slow down the "passengers" by using the motors as generators and producing electricity which can than be used e.g. to supply the up going escalators.

It is also possible to easily show the passengers what they can do for the environment by installing for example signs wich show that driving down and walking upstairs is a beneficial behaviour for the environment.
